Senior Accountant

Description

  1. Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all business lines, and oversee all financial accounting.
  2. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the MD; assess any changes necessary.
  3. Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the MD; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep MD abreast of the organization’s financial status.
  4. Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
  5. Lead junior team members in the department.
  6. Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
  7. Recommend updates to and implement all approved business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
  8. Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the MD.

Responsibilities

  1. Minimum of a BA, ideally with an MBA or related degree; CPA is a definite plus.
  2. Knowledge of UK GAAP or EU GAAP is mandatory; IFRS, US GAAP etc. could be a plus.
  3. At least 5-8 years of overall professional experience; ideally 3-plus years of broad financial and operations management experience
  4. Carry final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination
  5. Ability to explain financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with – all colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
  6. Technology savvy with ability to lead projects with latest project management tools like Asana, Trello, Wrike etc.
  7. Knowledge of accounting and reporting software
  8. A proven track record in setting priorities; demonstrate keen analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
  9. Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  10. Excellent written communication skills in English, German or other European languages would be a plus.
  11. High comfort and tolerance to manage the varied demands of the role
  12. Strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to provide leadership to a team and to work effectively within a team environment
  13. Has the requisite interpersonal qualities to generate enthusiasm, integrity and consensus via direct reports as well as with team members
  14. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, confidentiality, and dedication to the mission of the Company
